No list of top class World Cup midfielders would be complete without this man. Colombia's James Rodriguez was the undisputed star of the 2014 tournament, finishing as the top scorer with 6 strikes, as well as setting up two other goals for his teammates.

His breathtaking performances at the tournament in Brazil led to a big-money transfer to Spanish giants Real Madrid. He scored 13 goals in his debut season and won plenty of trophies before moving onto another European giant: Bayern Munich. With Bayern, James has proven his skills once again, scoring 7 goals and making 11 more in a title-winning campaign.

He scores and creates goals everywhere he goes and has continued his fine form for Colombia in recent years, scoring 7 goals in the nation's World Cup qualifying campaign. Can he repeat his 2014 performances all over again this summer? Time will tell, but he's an even more well-rounded player now than he was four years ago, so fans will be expecting a lot from him.
