10 Best Players Of The 2018 World Cup

6. Harry Kane

He faded out of the tournament in the final games, but Harry Kane's influence can't be underestimated. He walks away from this World Cup with the Golden Boot, becoming the first Englishman to win the award since Gary Lineker back in 1986. Other forwards, like Kylian Mbappé or Antoine Griezmann, were more influential in the knockout stages, but Kane still had a very good World Cup.

Two of the Spurs' man's goals came in that dramatic opening group stage game with Tunisia, and if he hadn't netted that last-minute header, it's easy to imagine that England's tournament might have gone very differently. He followed that up with a fine hat-trick against Panama and scored a crucial penalty against Colombia to help England's good run continue.

Kane tended to drop into midfield in England's final games, acting as more of a playmaker, and much of his good work in those matches went unnoticed by casual observers. He had fewer scoring opportunities and fatigue seemed to affect his form, but he was still a key player for the Three Lions from start to finish and could very easily be their main man for the next World Cup, when he'll be 29.
