10 Best Players Of World Cup 2018's Group Stage

4. Luka Modrić

Easily the best all-round midfielder in the 2018 World Cup group stages, Croatia's Luka Modrić has been absolutely flawless, leading his team to a perfect record of three wins from three. Only two other nations managed to collect nine points in the group stages, with Croatia setting themselves apart as one of the teams to beat this summer.

Plenty of Croatian players were involved in the team's group stage success, but Modrić shone brightest of them all. He scored a cool penalty against Nigeria in the opening game and followed that up with a sublime strike against Argentina in the second group stage clash.

The Real Madrid man has long been regarded as one of the best midfielders on the planet and is doing his reputation justice at the World Cup so far. All of Croatia's best moves flow through Modrić and he's always looking to get on the ball and make things happen. If he can keep this up, there's no telling how far Croatia could go.
