Few Brazil fans will have been too surprised not to see Fabinho's name on the final squad list, but it remains to be seen whether or not the team will miss the Monaco man when the tournament gets underway.

With the likes of Casemiro, Fernandinho, and Fred holding down the fort in the middle of the park, Brazil have a lot of great options, but a case could have been made for Fabinho's inclusion. The Monaco midfielder has been one of Ligue 1's best performers for a few years now, contributing some important goals and filling in at various positions all over the pitch.

A relatively prolific defensive midfielder, Fabinho is able to chip in with a good numbers of goals and assists, despite spending most of his time acting as a shield for the back four, and is also an excellent penalty taker, which might have proven handy should Brazil find themselves in a shootout situation this summer.
