Undoubtedly, the biggest and most enjoyable post-millennium moment for Spurs fans was eliminating the footballing colossus that is AC Milan from the Champions League knockout stages. A Peter Crouch strike at the San Siro gave the Lilywhites a fantastic 1-0 victory and that was followed by a hard-fought 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane - in a match that AC Milan dominated, if the truth be told - to give Spurs a 1-0 aggregate victory that set up a mouth-watering quarter-final tie with the biggest club in the world - Real Madrid. Of course, that match was ill-fated, as the Spaniards ran away with the tie 5-0 on aggregate, but just getting to play them in a competitive match - and having beaten AC Milan over two legs to do so - was a fantastic achievement and one that Spurs fans will be hoping the club gets a chance to emulate under new boss Mauricio Pochettino.
