Since the year 2000, Spurs have reached three Football League Cup finals (now known as the Capital One Cup) and have lost in two of them. Still, any cup final is worthy of note and a grand achievement - especially in a very sparse era in terms of trophies - so the two occasions that Spurs have ended up as the losing team were still great for the club's fans. In 2002, club legend Glenn Hoddle led the team to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff for what was then the Worthington Cup final against Graeme Souness' Blackburn Rovers. Matt Jansen opened the scoring for Rovers after 25 minutes, before Christian Ziege equalised eight minutes later, but Andy Cole sealed the win for Rovers after 68 minutes. Then, in 2009, Harry Redknapp led the club to Wembley to face Manchester United. The match ended 0-0 after extra-time, but United won the penalty shoot-out 4-1, as only Vedran Corluka converted out of the three Spurs men who stepped up.
