10 Best Premier League Matches Of The 1990s

7. Aston Villa 1 - 2 Manchester United - 1993/1994

An early Premier League fixture, just it's second season, two of the best teams in the country held nothing back in an early season fixture under lights. The Villa Park pitch was pristine and hopes of a successful campaign were soaring for both teams. The pace from both sides was relentless, no buses were parked as Ron Atkinson's Villa went all out to take three points off Sir Alex Ferguson's champions. It was Lee Sharpe however who opened the scoring, poking home from short range after 17 minutes, Villa getting back into the game through Dalian Atkinson just before half time. Buoyed by the leveller just before half time, Villa didn't let the pace drop, going close a couple of times. With 15 minutes left Paul Ince put Sharpe through to calmly pass into the bottom corner. Cue the classic Macarena celebration, just as memorable as Shearer's iconic one arm raise and run. United hung on and now the game stands as a tribute to what the new league would have in store.
