Perhaps the most important international derby for Three Lions fans, the England-Germany rivalry has a lot of history behind it, with several famous clashes between the two sides. The Germans, perhaps understandably, tend not to care as much about this rivalry as the English, but both teams definitely enjoy getting one over on the other.

Die Mannschaft has enjoyed huge success on the international stage, winning four World Cups in total, but England did manage to famously defeat Germany in the 1966 World Cup final to claim their only victory in the competition. Another memorable encounter between the two sides came in 2010, when Frank Lampard had a fair goal ruled out and the Germans won 4-1.

Since then, the rival nations have met in four friendlies, with Germany winning twice and England winning once. Depending on how the group stages play out, a quarter final clash between the two sides is a possibility and would surely be a feisty encounter.
