10 Big Talking Points On Luis Suarez's Future

7. Will He Flop?

This can be put down to a number of factors, including the different style of play, being understudy to bigger names, or the pressure to prove your worth. One such player who struggled to adapt to football in La Liga after life in the Premier League is Luca Modric. Along with Alex Song, he was voted one of the worst two signings in La Liga at the end of the 2012/2013 season by readers of Spanish newspaper Marca. He was a vital part of Tottenham Hotspur's team and duely attracted the attention of the Galacticos. After signing for a huge fee of £33 million he has struggled to break into the Real Madrid side as frequently as he may have expected and often finds himself coming off the bench for a few minutes each game. Nevertheless, for each Premier League to La Liga flop there is a success story. The most recent example of this has to be Gareth Bale who has blossomed since joining Real Madrid last season. He regularly finds himself in the starting line-up and has scored some terrific goals, including his terrific solo run and finish against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final. So which category would Suarez fit into? Well it's too hard to tell at the minute as each player reacts differently to the change in style and expectations after completing a big move to another club. He thrived in the Premier League after moving from Dutch side Ajax, but the expectations of the Barcelona fans will be far greater than anything he has ever experienced. If he gets off to a good start he will be a great success story. However, if he struggles to find the net early on in his Barca career then he could struggle to make an impact.
