10 Biggest Dodged Bullets In Liverpool Transfer History

2. Park Chu-Young

If you mention Chamakh to any Arsenal fan they will shudder, but even he is nothing in comparison to how bad Park Chu-Young was for the club. The South Korea international had enjoyed an impressive 2010/11 season with Monaco, scoring 12 times in 33 games, and Liverpool, among others, were interested in signing the forward. The Reds frustratingly failed to get their man though, and although it appeared he had signed for Lille, he was snapped up by Arsene Wenger instead to add squad depth to their ranks. He played just six times all year in 2011/12, however, scoring once, and was sent on loan to Celta Vigo the following year. He didn't impress there either, finding the back of the net just four times in 25 appearances. The 29-year-old returned to the Emirates last season, but made just one solitary Capital One Cup display before being farmed out to Waford for another loan spell. He played just twice for the Championship club. Park's Arsenal contract expired this summer, bringing an end to one of the most forgettable spells at a top club imaginable by a player. What on earth were Liverpool thinking even getting involved in the first place?
