10 Biggest Dodged Bullets In Liverpool Transfer History
6. Scott Dann
During the 2010/11 campaign Scott Dann was earning as much praise as almost any defender in the Premier League. The boyhood Liverpool fan had formed a rock solid centre-back partnership with Roger Johnson at Birmingham City, and he was being linked with a move to some of the biggest clubs in the country. Liverpool were one of those interested in acquiring his signature, with Dalglish keen to bring in new players at the back. Time was catching up on Carragher, while Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel were both in and out of the side because of injury. In the end, the club's interest in the then 24-year-old appeared to cool somewhat, and he ended up joining Blackburn Rovers on 'Deadline Day' in August 2011. His form for the one-time Premier League champions was nothing like that of his Birmingham days, however, and Blackburn were swiftly relegated to the Championship in Dann's first season. Having spent two seasons in the second tier, he earned a move back to the top-flight with Crystal Palace, where he has been very much a squad player. He is still young enough to forge a solid Premier League career, but those days of a move to Anfield seem a long way off now.
