10 Biggest Dodged Bullets In Man Utd Transfer History

2. Radamel Falcao

The future looked so bright for Radamel Falcao in the summer of 2013. A host of Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester City and United were queuing up for his services having seen him smash 28 goals in what turned out to be his final season for Atletico Madrid the campaign prior. In the end, all three were left disappointed when ambitious and cash-rich French side Monaco beat them to the Colombian's services, but all three may now be breathing a collective sigh of relief. Falcao was the hottest property on the market a year ago. He had just lit up La Liga by averaging almost a goal-a--game and was considered one of the most dangerous strikers in Europe. Monaco paid an astonishing £53 million to snap him up, but then watched on aghast as the South American flattered to deceive. His first game for Monaco, a pre-season clash with Augsburg, ended with him getting booked, kicking the ball into the crowd in fury and being hauled off at half-time by manager Claudio Ranieri, and It didn't get better. Falcao has astonishingly been accused of LYING ABOUT HIS AGE with rumours alleging the Colombian was not 27 at the time he signed for Monaco, but instead 29. By now, that would make him 30. The player has moved to deny such reports, but if true, then paying £53 million for a player pushing his thirties would probably leave Monaco fuming. Whether the claims are true or not, the Colombian only scored nine goals in his debut season at the Ligue 1 side, and that is not the form of a £53 million striker - whatever his age.
