Bolton Wanderers stormed back to the Premier League in 2001 on the back of the talismanship of Michael Ricketts, who continued in the same vein in the top flight too. Albeit, for a while.

His impressive scoring streak saw him bag 15 times in all competitions by February, including 12 in the league, which also earned him an international call-up with England.

His debut was forgetful, and Ricketts wasn't the same player after returning with the Trotters. Quite unbelievably, he didn't score even once for the remainder of the season!

Another disappointing year later, he left for Middlesbrough in a move which failed to ignite Ricketts as he was never to be seen in the Premier League again despite playing for various clubs in the Championship and League One.
