10 Biggest Premier League Surprise Packages So Far

2. Christian Benteke, Aston Villa (Games Played 28, Goals 14, Assists 4)

The fact that Benteke has directly contributed to around 40% of Villa's goals this year is truly astonishing. It again highlights how poor Villa's season has been this campaign, but it also shows the Belgians vast importance to the Villains. Strong, quick and lethal in front of goal, few would have imagined the impact of Benteke when he arrived in the summer for £7 million. He has been the big, powerful, shining light in Villa's season and has been compared to the match winner Didier Drogba in recent times. Defences literally hate playing against him because he has it all. It is hard to believe that Benteke is only 22. I'll say that again, 22! And yet he seems to have taken the league by sheer force this year and has left his manager running out of superlatives for him. Andre Villas Boas has expressed a desire to sign the Belgian this year and also called him this years 'Surprise Package'. Already being touted for bigger things, no-one can deny the surprising ease in which he has adapted to life in England.
