10 Biggest Stars Of The 2014 FIFA World Cup (So Far)

2. Neymar

One of Brazil's rich traditions - away from the sunshine, the beer and the beaches - is for their footballing team to have a poster boy leading their charge at every World Cup. Where players like Pele, Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho have stepped in the past, Neymar is currently following in their footsteps. The pressure on Brazil in their own backyard is colossal, with their army of yellow expecting nothing less than a win in the final. And as the shining ray of hope in the side, Neymar is perhaps under the spotlight more than any other player in world football at this moment in time. That big money move to Barcelona last year has produced good form and plenty of goals, and he has taken that into the tournament for Brazil so far. A 0-0 draw against Mexico doesn't exactly suggest that, but Neymar was sensational in the opening match of the tournament, with two goals to his name already. And that penalty - regardless of whether Fred dived - showed the confidence and coolness of Neymar, with him calmly tucking the ball away with literally the hopes of a nation on his shoulders. There are certain players in certain nations that, if they play well, the team as a whole will perform. Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal are one particular example, as are Andrea Pirlo and Italy. But if Neymar clicks over these next three weeks, Brazil are almost certainly going to reach the final.
