No matter what transpires on November 12, the UFC's first foray into New York City at UFC 205 will be a historic night for a sport that was unjustly prohibited in one of the world's most iconic settings. However, their debut at Madison Square Garden also has the prospect of being monumental as its cocky and emboldened crown prince aims to become the first man ever to hold two of the organisation's belts simultaneously.

A plan that would almost seem laughable if devised by any other fighter on the UFC's roster, the gall of McGregor to propose becoming a two division champ without relinquishing one title is exactly why he's smashing pay-per-view buyrate records and resonating with the public to an unparalleled level. A feat that he'd previously achieved in the UK's Cage Warriors promotion, the man standing in his way is none other than Pennsylvania's Eddie Alvarez - a man that made the transition from Bellator and has been on a tear ever since a minor setback to Donald Cerrone in his UFC debut.

Capturing the Lightweight title with a stellar TKO of Rafael Dos Anjos, Alvarez has been entirely dismissive of his Featherweight contemporary's move up to take the fight and insists that he has the perfect game plan to defeat 'The Notorious' one with a level of proficiency that far outweighs his defeat to Nate Diaz.

With the psychological warfare in full flow, both fighters predict an early night for their opponents and Alvarez has uncharacteristically claimed that he will 'pull out' McGregor's heart and show it to the crowd. Whether or not Alvarez's attitude towards McGregor's skill set is hubris or if it's actually valid won't be known until the door slams behind them, but what we know for certain is that the eyes of the world will be fixed on them when it's time for Conor's shot at the glory he's aspired to.
