10 Biggest UFC Underdogs Wins Of All Time
1. Matt Serra (Vs. Georges St-Pierre)
Undoubtedly, the biggest underdog win in the UFC’s 25 year history, is Matt Serra’s victory against Georges St-Pierre at UFC 69.
Going into the bout, Serra had amassed an average 5-4 record in the UFC while GSP was on a six fight win streak and flying. GSP was loved by the fans and by the company, whilst Serra was set to be just another name in the GSP win column.
Serra was expected to try and take the fight to the ground. However the Renzo Gracie Academy black belt came out swinging and landed some heavy shots, was happy to stand with GSP and was finding a lot of success with his overhand right.
It took Serra just over three minutes before he clipped the chin of GSP and sent the Canadian crashing to the mat. The whole arena was shook as Serra was crowned the new welterweight champion. GSP did go on to beat Serra in the rematch a year later, but nothing will take away from Serra causing the biggest upset ever seen.
