In May 2014, a young TJ Dillashaw found himself in a UFC Bantamweight title match in only his 11th professional fight. His opponent? Renan Barao - the Bantamweight godfather who was on a 35 fight win streak.

Barao had been tearing through the world’s best Bantamweights for nine years and was one of the best pound for pound fighters in the whole of the UFC when the Dillashaw bout came around.

Dillashaw had impressed during his first seven UFC fights but there was concern that the title fight was too much, too soon.

The youngster showed experience way beyond his years with immaculate head movement and timing throughout the five round war.Halfway through the final round, Barao was caught with a head kick, which Dillashaw followed up with a flurry of punches. Ref Herb Dean had seen enough and Dillashaw came out champ.
