10 Bizarre Jose Mourinho Moments

3. Have A Banana

'Surreal banana relay' is not a phrase you often expect to read on the back pages of a national newspaper when checking what happened in yesterday's match. With Jose Mourinho on the loose, we must learn to expect the unexpected.

On 16th March 2017, the Manchester United boss waved a banana in the air during a game against Russian team FC Rostov. It was unclear what would happen next. Bemused onlookers then saw the fruit being slipped to substitute Ashley Young who, incorporating events into his touchline warm up, delivered the snack to colleague, Marcos Rojo.

This is seemingly not against the rules but it certainly unusual. Despite derisive snorts, Mourinho insisted this was no laughing matter and said he was forced to resort to such tactics due to his team being overworked by their schedule (there's that conspiracy again).

Other commentators said this was a lot less bizarre than his decision to play Phil Jones on the wing that night. Ouch.
