Spurs' search for a twenty goals per season striker has long been publicised. They've been linked to players like Romelu Lukaku, Christian Benteke, Javier Hernandez, Jay Rodriguez, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Alvaro Morata, Mateo Destra and Saido Berahino in recent years and months, just to name a few of them. However, in 2013, they had apparently turned their attention to a striker who couldn't get in the team at Italian Serie A side Udinese and was plying his trade at Watford on loan at the time. That player was Matej Vydra - a player who has since been on loan, in a rather unimpressive spell, in the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion and is now back on loan at Watford in the Championship. The Czech Republic international was never going to be the striker Spurs needed, in spite of his impressive performances in the English second tier.
