10 Candidates To Be Steve McClaren's Newcastle Captain

4. Daryl Janmaat

Colback may be marginally ahead of Janmaat in the pecking order for the Newcastle captaincy, but it would come as a surprise to no-one if the Dutch international right-back is handed the armband by McClaren in the coming weeks. Arguably the Magpies' most-consistent performer (until the final month of the campaign) last season, Janmaat exudes confidence and stability - something Newcastle have been lacking in recently. His stupid and petty dismissal at Leicester City aside, Janmaat has rarely been overawed by playing in a black-and-white shirt and he seems to thrive under the expectations. A senior voice in the dressing room and another member of the ever-growing Dutch contingent, Janmaat could also be offered the armband in order to ward off potential suitors for his signature in the future. Alongside Colback, he would be the most-popular selection among the majority of supporters. Likelihood Of Being Captain For 2015-16 Season: 8/10
