10 Coolest Clubs In World Football
6. FC Midtjylland
In recent times, everything Nordic has become the pinnacle of cool, from TV shows to fine dining to fashion, furniture and now football teams. With a defiantly minimalist badge, beautiful font typography and unpronounceable name, FC Midtjylland have announced themselves as one Europe’s coolest clubs.
The epicentre of Midtjylland’s cool began in 2014 when Brentford owner Matthew Benham took over the club and implemented a moneyball approach to scouting and footballing philosophy that Billy Beane would be proud of. Not so much can he hit, but can he pass effectively and play on the half turn.
And it worked, immediately. Midtjylland won their first ever domestic title in Benham’s first year and managed to chalk up a victory against Man United in the Europa league. But one of the other reasons this club is so chic, is because of its stacked academy that any Football Manager aficionado will testify to.
With over 100 clubs in its youth network, recent FM legends to come through the ranks include Simon Kjaer and Winston Reid as well as current wonderkids like Pione Sisto, Patrick Banggaard and Mikkel Duelund; Midtjylland are the coolest club in the coolest part of Europe.
