10 Darkest Days In Alan Pardew's Newcastle United Career

10. Newcastle 3-3 West Brom

Date: 22nd May 2011 It seems like a long time ago that Newcastle ever had the luxury of having any leads to throw away, but the surrender of a three goal advantage over West Brom at home on the final day of the season was about as demoralising as possible. The club sat on the cusp of finishing 9th - a remarkable achievement for a club just returning to the Premier League who had lost their top scorer halfway through. At half-time Newcastle were cursing; at 60 minutes they were too, but then a 28 minute hat-trick from Somen Tchoyi meant a 12th place finish and a loss of £2.4m in potential Premier League prize money. As those goals went in, Newcastle and Pardew collapsed, and the manager cut a tragic figure on the touch-line. It wasn't a disaster, but it was a sign of poor things to come.
