Tottenham Hotspur have spent a hell of a lot of money in recent years. Despite not achieving an awful lot (one trophy and one Champions League campaign since the turn of the millennium), Spurs are amongst the Premier League's big spenders - although it should be pointed out that, thanks to their equally prolific selling, their net spend is nowhere near as high as the majority of the bigger teams in the Premier League. That said, that doesn't change the fact that their outgoings on player purchases has been extremely high and, as a result, they've had some very productive and high-performance professionals at White Hart Lane - but they've also had their fair share of expensive flops. Moving to a big club in England is never necessarily easy - not even for those players who are supposedly amongst the best in the world (ask Andrei Shevchenko, Juan Sebastian Veron and Robinho, for example) - so there will always be misses amongst your hits and Spurs have certainly had a few of them.
