10 Football Players Who Were Nearly One Club Men

7. Sergio Pellissier

Many of you may not be familiar with Sergio Pellissier, but the Chievo Verona faithful certainly know him well.

The Italian striker retired last year, ending a 19-year stay at the club. At least in terms of playing, anyway.

As opposed to those before him on this list, we must look at the opposite end of Pellissier's career to find his other club.

Rising through the ranks at Torino, he played just 43 minutes for the Turin club before moving to Serie C outfit Varese. Following two seasons in the third tier, a then-21-year-old Pellissier was snapped up by Chievo.

Despite not beginning life with I Gialloblu, this is certainly the only club his name has or will ever be attached to, as the current record holder for the most appearances in the club's history at 515 (139 more than second-place Lorenzo D'Anna).

In this time, the forward contributed 169 goals and assists in a period that saw the club finish as high as 4th in Serie A and slump to Serie B twice.

Pellissier ended his playing days at 40 years old and quickly joined the club's staff as the technical director.

A true icon of The Flying Donkeys.
