10 Football Teams That Under-Performed In 2019/20
4. Partick Thistle
Having looked as if they were establishing themselves as a top-flight side, it came as some shock when Partick Thistle found themselves relegated from the Scottish Premiership by the end of the 2017/18 season, finishing as the basement club of the division.
As if that wasn't surprising enough, they would go on to finish bottom of the Scottish Championship just two years later.
The Jags will feel particularly aggrieved by this relegation; they had a game in hand on 9th placed Queen of the South and were just two points behind when the SPFL ended the season early, condemning the club to automatic relegation as opposed to a relegation play-off.
Although this is a harsh outcome, they have no one to blame but themselves for finding themselves so low in the table in the first place.
They scored the joint-7th and conceded the 9th most goals in the league. This may not sound too bad until you remember that the Scottish Championship consists of 10 teams.
With neither the defence nor the attack doing their jobs well enough, the team never moved far from 8th in the table.
