10 Football Teams That Under-Performed In 2019/20
3. Anderlecht
To football fans throughout Europe, Anderlecht are synonymous with being the pinnacle Belgian club, and why wouldn't they be?
Anderlecht have won the Pro League 10 out of 19 times and never finished outside of the top 4 in the 21st Century leading up to the 2019/20 season. The likes of Romelu Lukaku, Lucas Biglia and Youri Tielemans have emerged from the club and gone on to play at the highest level of the game.
Although the season finished prematurely in Belgium and we will never know whether the capital club could have turned their fortunes around, their final official league position was 8th.
This places them exactly halfway down their 16-team league and 10 points away from the Europa League qualifiers.
With the most draws in the league - including a staggering seven 0-0 results - and surprise losses to Kortrijk and twice to Oostende, it is clear that Anderlecht just weren't doing enough in front of goal.
The final few games of the season saw inflation in their goal difference and final league position. 16 goals in 3 games saw the club climb to 8th, which is the highest they had been for the entire season.
