10 Footballers Who Really Didn't Deserve Winners Medals

7. Harry Kewell

During the late 1990s and early 2000s, Harry Kewell was one of the most exciting wingers in world football. He was producing stunning performances for Leeds United week in, week out, and was the star of a very talented young side at Elland Road. When he joined Liverpool in the summer of 2003, many felt he would be sensational at Anfield, solving their left-wing woes in the process. As it happened, Kewell's time on Merseyside was a disaster, and he did not deserve to win the trophies he did. Barring a decent assist in the unforgettable 3-1 win over Olympiacos in the group stages, the Australian did nothing of note during the Reds' staggering Champions League run, and he limped tamely off the pitch in the final triumph over AC Milan. He probably was hurt, to be fair, but there was a sense that if he'd really had to, he could've carried on. Fast forward 12 months and Kewell started the 2006 FA Cup Final against West Ham. Three minutes after half-time he again left the pitch through injury, and he had been barely noticeable prior to his exit. Once again Liverpool went on to clinch glory, but again the winger had made no contribution whatsoever. To earn two winners medals in the space of a year, having done so little towards it, just isn't right.
