On his day, Hatem Ben Arfa is one of the most talented individuals ever to grace a football pitch. With god-like dribbling skills, few players can match Ben Arfa when the ball is at his feet, but a lack of motivation and inconsistent performances have seemingly held the French forward back from reaching his frightening potential during his career.

A spell at Newcastle saw Ben Arfa demonstrate his talents in the English game, but after falling out with boss Alan Pardew he was sent out on loan to Premier League strugglers Hull City.

Seemingly unhappy on Humberside, Ben Arfa looked nothing like the player he had once been, and his time at the Tigers was ultimately cut short after he unexpectedly returned to his native France without telling anyone at the club. It later emerged that in the Frenchman's final disinterested appearance in black and amber, Hull goalkeeper Alan McGregor had actually covered more distance across the 90 minutes than he had.
