10 Former Players Birmingham City Could Do With Now
10. Tyler Blackett
Tyler Blackett have to pinch himself at how the year has unfolded. Having begun 2014 without a prayer of making the first-team at Old Trafford, he was farmed out on loan to Birmingham City where he produced a string of nervous and worrisome displays for the struggling Championship outfit. He endured a nightmare debut for the Midlands-based club, giving away a penalty after just 38 minutes and looking generally shaky as the side shipped three goals to Derby County. Since returning to Old Trafford, however, he has taken advantage of the sheer lack of defenders in the camp and has played seven Premier League games so far this season. To his credit, the 20 year old has looked by far the most confident and assured defender at Old Trafford this season despite his inexperience - the boy had only ever played 20 games of professional football before. Should he keep up his excellent form, it would be hard for Louis van Gaal to throw him back onto the bench even with the returns of Phil Jones and Jonny Evans looming. Birmingham City supporters will just rue the fact that they never got to see the best of Blackett during his loan spell earlier in the year.
