10 Former Players Spurs Could Do With Now

9. Tom Huddlestone

There is a common misperception that Tom Huddlestone only flourished after having been let off the leash that restricted him at White Hart Lane. The 27 year old midfielder was not some kid who was never given a chance in north London - quite the opposite. The tough-tackling, afro-haired footballer played over 200 times for Spurs during an eight-year period, scoring 15 goals along the way. However, it could certainly be argued that the former Derby County midfielder is now in the peak of his career, and playing his best stuff. He has only ever missed two Premier League fixtures for Hull City since completing a £5.25 million move in the summer of 2013, and his impressive performances have even seen him touted for England. The Spurs midfield have been criticised for their softness and mental fragility, with the likes of Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and Moussa Dembele so far having struggled to produce for the White Hart Lane outfit. Not only would their former midfielder provide steel and security for the defence, but his hawk-eye vision, wide range of passing and explosive shots could prove invaluable for a stagnant and stale Spurs midfield.
