10 Former Strikers Spurs Wish They Had Now

1. Gary Lineker

Time At Spurs: 1989-1992. Games For Spurs: 138. Goals For Spurs: 80. If there's one former Spurs striker who had a knack for being in the right place at the right time to score a goal, it's Mr. Nice Guy Gary Lineker - and boy could they do with someone like that right now. The current Match of the Day host averaged well over one goal every two games for the Lilywhites and he was the club's top scorer in his first season at White Hart Lane, as Spurs finished third in the old First Division. He was also top scorer on two other occasions. He won the FA Cup with the club in 1991, playing the full match in the final as Spurs beat Nottingham Forest 2-1. He was never a flamboyant player and was mostly all about poaching and tap-ins, but any goal is important and it doesn't matter how they go in. Lineker played for England 80 times and scored 48 goals. So there you have it - ten former strikers Spurs wish they had now. Did you enjoy this article? Do you agree with the entries on this list?
