Like various greats before him, Luis Suarez is a flawed genius. After an amazing season for Liverpool, he has the strongest claim to being the third best player in the world and there is certainly no question of his talent yet fans across the world were left dumbstruck at his heinous actions at the World Cup in which he bit Italy's Georgio Chiellini. The incident marked the third case in which Suarez had bit an opponent and FIFA responded by banning him from all football related actions for four months. To put the severity of the ban into context, Suarez is barred from attending any football game let alone play. He is not allowed to train with his new team-mates, cannot be in team photos and he is refused the luxury of promoting football or any football related merchandise. Barcelona will be hoping that the huge gamble they have taken on Suarez will pay off but it remains doubtful as to whether Suarez can ever repay the Spanish club. With his track record, it's a big risk and while the rewards might prove ultimately fruitful, one would have to wonder if it will be worth the cost. Barcelona are famous for their beautiful football yet Suarez could destroy that legacy with one giant bite. It will be interesting to see how he fits in with Neymar and Messi but if they get it right and Suarez proves his doubters wrong, it could be the best attacking triumvirate in the clubs history. It's a big risk though.
