10 Greatest Central Midfielders In Premier League History

8. Yaya Toure

Media Image LtdMedia Image LtdClub: Man City In a poll conducted last season, Barcelona fans voted Yaya Toure as the player they would most like to re-sign, and given that they already have the likes of Xavi, Andreas Iniesta and Sergio Busquets in his position, that€™s some compliment. The Ivorian powerhouse obviously impressed Barca fans during his three years at the club, and he clearly impressed Manchester City too as they paid around £24million for his services in 2010 €“ a fee which now appears to have been a steal. Toure has led City to two league title wins during his time at the club, often being seen as the team€™s most crucial and irreplaceable player, alongside captain Vincent Kompany perhaps. The 31-year-old€™s pace, power and ability to shrug an opponent off the ball and coast past like he€™s not there sets him aside from any midfielder in world football at the moment. Nonetheless, Toure has had his fallings out with the Sky Blues in recent times, with the player€™s agent claiming that he may leave the club after they failed to satisfactorily wish him happy birthday. If he were to leave, the likes of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain would surely be interested in securing his signature, although City fans will be hoping that he goes nowhere.
