Cristiano Ronaldo truly evolved into the world's best player by the end of the stupendous 2007/08 season when he helped Manchester United to the Premier League and Champions League glory.

His scorching run in domestic games though, was what caught everyone's imagination.

The Portuguese ace lit up the league with his menacing prowess and became just the second player to score 31 times in the top-flight since the competition reformatted to 38-games. Not to mention he assisted six times too.

He cantered to the Golden Boot with consummate ease and also picked up several other individual honors, including that of the PFA Player of the Year, before claiming the much-coveted Ballon d'Or too at the end of the year.
