10 Greatest Sporting Crossovers Of All-Time

4. AB de Villiers

Consistently at the top of the ICC€™s batting ratings for Test and ODI, AB de Villiers is undoubtedly one of the best batsmen in the sport today, but his sporting past includes far more than cricket. At 13 he played tennis in South Africa€™s national youth Davis Cup team, and later would captain the junior national rugby team whilst being shortlisted for the national hockey and football teams. He holds six South African school swimming records, as well as the 100m sprint record in junior athletics. He doesn€™t get to play golf often, but when he does, he plays off a handicap of two, having once played off scratch when he golfed more frequently. If that wasn€™t enough to respect/resent, AB is also a half-decent singer-songwriter with a studio album release, and he was the recipient of a medal from Nelson Mandela for a science project. He fully crossed over to cricket in 2004, age 20, with his debut against England, and soon became the second youngest and second fastest South African to reach a thousand runs.
