7. Paul Davis

BUTLER/PA Archive/Press ASSOCIATION ImagesBUTLER/PA Archive/Press ASSOCIATION ImagesPaul Davis weighs in at number seven on this list, a player who registered nearly 450 appearances for Arsenal. A midfielder who loved the club and gave his all, Davis was an integral part of the Gunners side which won the First Division in 1989 and 1991. In a side which had the likes of Mickey Thomas and David Rocastle, Davis was the player who ensured that Arsenal would dish it out if anyone gave them physical treatment. And there is one incident that the midfielder will always be remembered for. It was in 1988, when Arsenal were playing Southampton. Davis punched Saint€™s hardman Glenn Cockerill off the ball, breaking his jaw. It was a hell of a punch, making Luis Suarez€™s biting incident seem like child€™s play. The FA reviewed the incident with television replays and handed Davis a nine-match ban, something that was unheard of in those days. To make matters worse, the midfielder was also given a £3,000 fine.
