He spent all 22 years of his playing career at Arsenal, winning four league titles, three FA Cups and two league cups. Adams is also regarded as one of Arsenal€™s greatest ever captains and the statue of him outside the Emirates Stadium is a testament to how synonymous he has become with the club. A born leader, the centre back also captained England. As a player, Adams was without doubt one of the toughest. A classic English centre back, in the same mould of Terry Butcher. He was part of the back four which become famous for its 1-0 wins; with himself, Nigel Winterburn, Steve Bould and Lee Dixon forming a brilliant defensive unit. The leader of the pack, Adams would willingly put everything on the line for the cause. A true battler and a true hardman.
