10 Hardest Players In English Premier League History

2. Duncan Ferguson

Attaining the joint most red cards in Premier League history, this oversized Scottish behemoth was a clinical finisher who was also likely credited with sending a few of his opponents to the clinic before a lot of matches even had a chance to finish. In fact, there's more truth to this statement than one would suspect, as his antics outside of Goodison Park were just as well documented as his unanimously rage-fuelled attitude on the pitch.

This was perpetuated by big Dunc's tenacious tendency to headbutt, punch and grapple with other players more times than not. Including - but certainly not limited to - his infamous assault on Jock McStay which he was eventually jailed for, a plethora of goalkeepers and just about any Liverpool player that was unfortunate enough to be present at the time.

However, his most unhinged display of foul play took place in the man's own home.

Someone must've not been a football fan, or at least they never saw this berserker break opponents on the pitch because in 2001 a burglar got much more than they bargained for when they attempted to tackle his house, leaving him in hospital for a period of three days and in 2003, yet another idiot was dim enough to attempt the same feat, which resulted in the same outcome, well, minus a day in intensive care at least.
