Just two months after suffering the humiliating 6-0 defeat to Manchester City in the North West, the Citizens visited White Hart Lane and delivered an almost equally ruthless beating to the Lilywhites. What really made this emphatic 5-1 victory stand out was the fact that it completed an 11-1 aggregate score over two league matches against the same team - a terrible statistic for Spurs. Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and Edin Dzeko gave City an unassailable lead before Etienne Capoue pulled one back for ten-man Spurs (Danny Rose had been sent off). However, Stevan Jovetic and Vincent Kompany completed the rout - leading Tim Sherwood to describe City as "the best team on a planet", after a match that surely contributed to his dismissal.
