10 Keys To Spurs' Potential Success This Season

8. Sell The Dead Wood

Although a big squad is necessary in the modern game, Spurs have a lot of players who simply aren't good enough for a team with their ambition - especially bearing in mind that there are still potentially more signings to come in this current transfer window. Aaron Lennon, for example, has had his time at the club. In a team that includes the likes of Lennon himself, Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen, Nacer Chadli, Andros Townsend, Lewis Holtby and Mousa Dembele who can all play in the trio behind the striker in Spurs' system (as well as some potentially incoming attacking midfielders and wingers), somebody has to make way and, bearing in mind Lennon's recent performances and his poor end product, it should really be him. With Spurs having Jan Vertonghen, Younes Kaboul, Vlad Chiriches and Eric Dier amongst their centre back ranks, and with Federico Fazio seemingly incoming, Michael Dawson appears to be on the way to Hull City and that's the kind of thing Spurs should be doing in all positions - ensuring everyone they have is of a quality and playing style that they can utilise in any given competition.
