With a strike record of 59 goals in his last 81 appearances for the Gunners, it was no wonder that he had both Manchester clubs scrambling for his signature when he signalled his desire for pastures new in the summer of 2012. He subsequently took his blistering-hot form with him to Old Trafford, and despite a disappointing debut - where he played the final twenty minutes of a 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park - he quickly became an Old Trafford hero with his abundance of goals. A beautiful flick was fired past Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer after ten minutes of his home debut, and a hat-trick was plundered past Southampton to salvage the three points from the jaws of defeat in the dying seconds. He scored the winning strike at Anfield in his next start to complete a wonderful opening month for the Dutchman. The former Gunner would finish the season with 30 goals in all competitions, and a league winners medal around his neck.
