10 Man Utd Players Who Should Fear For Their Future
3. Anders Lindegaard
Lets call a spade what it is - If Anders Lindegaard were to leave Manchester United in the morning, not many would bat an eyelid. Indeed, a large proportion of the Old Trafford faithful probably wouldnt even notice. Such is David de Geas supreme form these days, establishing himself as one of the worlds finest shot-stoppers, that it seems like an eon ago that both he and Lindegaard were once fighting it out for the number one jersey. With Sir Alex Ferguson keen on rotating his goalkeepers during the autumn of 2012, it could well have been De Gea and not Lindegaard resigned to a couple of seasons warming the bench. Of course, the former Athletico Madrid goalkeepers class won out and now it looks like Lindegaard could be further pushed down the pecking order by the arrival of another Spaniard. As he pulls into the Carrington training ground centre every day, he must wince slightly at the sight of three-time Champions League winner Victor Valdes pulling on a set of MUFC gloves. With the former World Cup winner having taken up the clubs offer of training with them in a bid to regain full fitness following a long injury lay-off, one would certainly not bet against the former Barcelona shot-stopper being offered a contract before too long. Should that happen, it would almost certainly spell the end for Lindegaard - a man who has played one league game since Sir Alex Ferguson hung up the hairdryer in May 2012.
