10 Memorable Liverpool Goals Scored By Ordinary Players

1. Ryan Babel vs Man United; September 2008

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OzFuKJb2c0 Signing for £11.5 million in 2007, big things were expected of Ryan Babel. Goals aplenty were surely on the horizon for the Ajax hot-shot. If only it were that simple. Throughout the course of his time at Anfield, his play was littered with indecision, wayward shooting and general profligacy. In the midst of all the calamity, however, was one moment that shines brightly for Liverpool supporters when they remember the Dutchman - after all, how could they not reflect fondly on a winner against Manchester United? With Carlos Tevez having given the Mancunians the lead after three minutes, Wes Brown levelled matters with an own goal after 27 minutes. With Liverpool having won two of the first three games of the season, they were pushing for a priceless victory over their north-west rivals, and were granted the winner 13 minutes from time as substitute Babel fired Dirk Kuyt's squared cut-back into the roof of the net from point-blank range. The red half of the city almost exploded in sheer jubilation, as Liverpool recorded the first of three successive victories over their venomous rivals. The common theme to all three games of course was Nemanja Vidic's penchant for receiving a red card in each one. Another interesting theme to note is that in each of the games, a very average Liverpudlian player get on in on the goalscoring act, with David N'Gog and Andrea Dossena following Ryan Babel's feat. So that's a wrap - the question is, what do you think of the list? Have there been any notable exclusions or perhaps any players included that don't quite befit the tag 'ordinary'? As always, feel free to leave your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below.
