10 Midfielders That Will Be In Roy Hodgson's Provisional England Squad (And 1 That Won't)

6. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - Arsenal

Caps: 14 Goals: 3 The Ox has been injured for large parts of this season, having damaged a cruciate ligament in an opening day defeat away to Villa. During his time out he had to sit back and watch the likes of Townsend and Sterling grab the headlines with their own eye catching performances, strengthening their cases for selection in the England squad. However, since Oxlade-Chamberlain's return in early February he has arguably been Arsenal's brightest player and has carried the team on occasion, especially in the absence of Walcott. He is a powerful runner and shows great desire to beat a man with his electric pace. More importantly though, he is a diligent defender and against teams like Italy, who enjoy a large amount of possession, he may be required to spend long periods of the game concentrating on tracking his man. He is another versatile player, able to player out wide or in central midfield and will be an important squad member this summer.
