10 Modern Spurs Legends Tottenham Fans Idolise

1. Ledley King

Simply put, Ledley King IS Mr. Tottenham Hotspur. King spent the entirety of his 13 year playing career with the Lilywhites - a rarity in modern football - and he inevitably became the club's captain.

Quite famously - and very sadly - King€™s career was heavily tarnished by a chronic knee injury that meant he actually ended up being completely unable to train. However, what this did was emphasis just how rare a talent he was, because he could still perform to excellent standards at the top level quite effortlessly when he was on the pitch. Frankly, had King been fully fit for his whole career, there is absolutely no doubt that he could€™ve been England€™s stand-out defender of the last twenty years.

The defender made 268 league appearances for Spurs, won the League Cup with the club in 2008 and was runner up in the same competition with them on two other occasions. He also led the club in to the Champions League in 2010 and represented England in Euro 2004 and the 2010 World Cup during his time at White Hart Lane.

Unfortunately, King was forced to retire due to the aforementioned injury when he was just 31 years old, but he continues to work for the club he loves in an ambassadorial capacity and he has been involved with coaching the club's younger players, with the intention being that he will become a fully-fledged coach at the club in the future.

So there you have it - ten Spurs legends, who played for the club after the year 2000, who the fans completely idolise. Did you enjoy this article?
