3. Trey Canard & Ryan Morais At Los Angeles Supercross, 2012
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWjPoPzsYxs Perhaps one of the most gruesome crashes on the list, this incident saw the end of Ryan Morais career, and almost ended Trey Canards. Canard had himself recently returned from a major crash at the outdoor series where he had broken his femur. In only the third round of the Supercross season disaster would strike again. Canard collected a tuff block on the first few corners, which meant that he was unable to jump the first big triple on the lap. Unable to see that Canard had slowed, veteran Ryan Morais jumped the triple, landing directly on Canards back, breaking it. He had injured his T10, T11 and T12 vertebrae. Morais also suffered serious injuries, including fracturing his C1 C2 C6-7 T1, broke ribs and broke his upper and lower jaws. Morais retired from racing after the incident. It would take Canard a full year to recover; he returned at the start of the 2013 season. He is currently in contention to take the 2015 title.
