Before the World Cup began, David De Gea was being tipped to win the Golden Glove award as the best keeper of the tournament. For Manchester United, De Gea has been breathtakingly good, establishing himself as one of the most reliable keepers in the world. On the international stage, however, it's a different story.

With the shadow of legendary keeper Iker Casillas still hanging over him whenever he turns out for Spain, De Gea has struggled several times for the national side in the past and had a very poor time in the group stages of this World Cup. Shockingly, he only managed to make a single proper save throughout all three of the group games.

He was dreadful in Spain's opener with Portugal, especially when he let Cristiano Ronaldo's second goal slip through his fingers and into the net. He had less to do against Iran but once again struggled in Spain's last match with Morocco, letting in another two goals, and he'll need to be much stronger if Spain want to push through to the latter stages.
