Griezmann was the main man at Euro 2016, scoring six goals as France made it all the way to the final, and he was expected to replicate his fine form at this World Cup as Les Bleus attempted to record their second win in the big competition. In the group games, however, he was one of the more disappointing players for the French.

Griezmann's only contribution of note so far has been the penalty he scored against Argentina, but apart from that, he has had little impact on any of France's games. During the group stage, the French were criticised for looking more like a bunch of individuals than a team, and they'll be looking to older heads like Griezmann to start leading the way.

At the age of 27, the forward is in the peak years of his footballing career and this World Cup seems like the perfect opportunity for the Atlético Madrid man to lead his nation to glory. He's spoken time and time again about how desperately he wants to win this tournament but needs to start backing up those claims with stronger performances.
