10 Most Embarrassing Old Firm European Nights

5. Aalborg 2-1 Celtic (November 2008)

Celtic had a tough group in the Champions League and after having lost to Manchester United and Villareal in their opening games, a Europa League spot looked like their best hope. United had just escaped from Celtic Park with a draw, so morale was high in the Celtic camp. A disappointing 0-0 draw in the previous game with Aalborg seemed to be the worst case scenario, yet the Bhoys left Denmark with their tails firmly behind their legs after a humiliating defeat. Barry Robson's powerful header put the Glasgow side 1-0 up, only for Caca to score a slightly fortuitous long range effort. Celtic then conceded a pathetic late winner as Glenn Loovens and Gary Caldwell bundled the ball into their own net. A calamitous centre half pairing and a calamitous night for Celtic.
